Although born in Kentucky, Mark calls Texas home. He has served as Pastor to churches in Texas and Arkansas. He and his wife, Sherry, have two daughters, Kristen and Kimberly. Kristen is married to Dr. Osvaldo Padilla and is a free-lance writer for the WMU. They have one son, Philip. Kimberly is married to Alex Beasley and is a stay-at-home mom with their son, Nathan and twin girls, Emma and Caroline.

Mark has pastored First Baptist Church since March of 2009. He graduated from Howard Payne University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Currently, he is pursuing his Doctor of Ministry through Logsdon Seminary. “The focus verse of my life is Isaiah 41:10. Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will help you; I will strengthen you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”

alan schantz

Alan came to serve as Minister of Music at First Baptist Church in January of 2015. Alan is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has over 30 years of ministry experience having served churches in Texas, Oklahoma and Georgia. Alan married Lynda in August of 1980 and they have two grown children, Meagan and Kylie.  Alan and Lynda enjoy traveling, camping and hiking.  Alan and Lynda are the proud grandparents of Georgia and Hayes. 

Alan's passion is preparing and leading meaningful experiences of worship for the body of Christ. He also enjoys participating in and leading music mission trips.

Minister of discipleship and administration

jonathan raffini

Jonathan serves as the Minister of Discipleship and Administration, which includes Sunday School, Bible Studies, missions as well as facility management and part time employee oversight.  Jonathan previously served at Minister of Youth at FBC Big Spring from January 2011-February 2020.  A native of South Carolina, Jonathan has served at First Baptist since January of 2011. His passions in ministry are seeing believers grow closer to God and missions.   Jonathan has been married to Rebekah since 2007 and they have 2 daughters, Elizabeth and Anna. Jonathan enjoys playing golf and the Clemson Tigers. Contact Jonathan at the church office, extension 20.

Roger Stafford

Roger is a native of Howard County and is excited to be back in Big Spring serving as FBC Big Spring's newest staff member.  Roger has over 27 years of experience in youth ministry, having previously served at several churches.  Roger came to FBC Big Spring in March of 2020.  Roger is married to Lori and they have 5 children.

Kaci is a Texas native, she moved to Big Spring in 2015 and is currently pursuing her degree in children’s ministry. When she is not serving in the church, she can be found either in Fort Worth visiting her family, or out with friends.

Tracy leads the Mother's Day Out ministry, a 2 days a week preschool, here at First Baptist. She is married to Lewis and they have two children, a son and a daughter.

Lynda serves as the lead administrative assistant and helps keep the office running smoothly.  Her areas of responsibilities include publications, reception, music and a wide variety of other tasks.  Lynda brings a wealth of experience in church ministry and is excited to be a part of First Baptist Big Spring.  Lynda is married to Alan, who serves as the Minister of Music and they have 2 adult daughters and 2 grandchildren

Rebekah Raffini

Rebekah serves as the administrative assistant two days a week assisting with youth, children, and other general areas.  She also serves as the Assistant Director of Mothers Day Out for two other days.  Rebekah is a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, AL, with a degree in math.  Rebekah served as a NAMB appointed missionary in western Canada for five years.  She's married to Jonathan and they have two children, Elizabeth and Anna.

tiana hergert

Tiana is married to Lonny and they have two children Brittney and Bryce. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree with an emphasis in Accounting from Lubbock Christian University. The Hergerts moved to Big Spring from Lubbock in May of 2005. They joined the First Baptist Church family in 2009. One of her favorite verses is Ephesians 4:32, "And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you."

Building/facilities supervisor


Rich serves First Baptist as the Building and Facilities Supervisor.  He supervises the janitorial staff as well as takes care of lots of jobs around the building helping to keep it all in working order.

Donald serves in the area of Custodian and Maintainence and does a fabulous job helping keep the facility up and running smoothly.
